There are 2,400 AI startups in India and demand for maybe 50. The math is brutal.

India minted over 800 new "AI startups" in 2025. The vast majority are GPT wrappers solving problems that don't exist, funded on hype-cycle FOMO. With foundation model capabilities moving up the stack monthly, the moats are thin or non-existent. The 50-100 that will survive share three traits: proprietary data, a true workflow product (not a chatbot), and a B2B customer paying real money. If you're joining an Indian AI startup in 2026, look at the customer logo wall before the team bios. Talent without distribution is a hobby.

The budget breakdown is really helpful. Was planning ₹1L for 2 but looks like we need to revise up.
